KVALSUNDET 

The installation of the prototype started on 25 September.

The structure weighs 107 tons.

It was lifted from the transport barge onto the crane barge, then submerged and moved to its correct position.

 

 

SINTEF was on site with data acquisition and monitoring equipment, surveying the operation and securing the orientation of the propeller axis in line with the recorded current.
     
 

The last phase was to stabilise the structure with gravity weights, seen here on the barge. Their total weight is about 200 tons. Three weights are placed on the single rear leg and two on each of the two front legs.
